Soap Ledger: Every batch, remembered.

Soap Ledger keeps your recipes, lye math, batches and curing in one careful record, and shows where every number comes from.

Email sign-up only. No credit card. Made for hobby soapmakers and small sellers.

A recipe in Soap Ledger: amounts at a glance, the oil list with percentages and weights, and the lye and water amounts with how they were worked out.
A recipe with its oils, lye and water. (Fictional test data.)

What it does

One careful record, from first idea to cured bar

A lye calculator that shows its sources

Build a recipe and get NaOH or KOH, water and superfat amounts, with lye purity taken into account. Every oil's SAP value comes with where it came from, so you can check it.

  • Soap qualities and fatty acids as bars against target ranges
  • Recipe versions: draft, testing, approved
  • Missing or unreviewed values are flagged, never guessed
Soap quality scores and fatty acid percentages for a recipe, shown as bars; hardness shows the target range.

Try changes before you make them

The Tweaker lets you nudge oils up or down and watch hardness, cleansing and conditioning move. The Blend Advisor suggests blends that move toward the qualities you want.

  • Lock a quality to keep it steady while you change others
  • Nothing is saved until you save it as a new draft version
The Tweaker: plus and minus buttons for each soap quality and each oil, with the lye amount updating at the top.

A workbench for making day

Start a batch and the recipe is locked in, so what you made is what you recorded. On your phone, the workbench walks you through weighing, mixing and pouring, with timers and room for notes.

  • Big tap targets for gloved hands
  • Log anything that went differently
  • Unmold, cut and cure reminders, plus a calendar feed
The batch workbench: each oil and the lye with its target weight, a tick box and a field for the actual weight.

Bring your old recipes with you

Import recipe PDFs from SoapCalc and similar calculators. Soap Ledger reads them, then asks you to compare each field with the original PDF and confirm or fix it before anything is saved.

  • You review every value; nothing is imported silently
  • Optional AI help for messy PDFs, only if you turn it on
The import review screen: what was read from a PDF, a list of steps to check, and each field with a Matches the PDF tick box.

Supplies, costs and stock (paid plans)

Paste a supplier receipt and Soap Ledger matches the lines to your ingredients and records what you paid. Then see what a batch, or a bar, really costs.

  • Inventory lots and suppliers
  • Batch and bar costing, with unknown costs shown as unknown
  • Finished stock, labels with QR codes, and sales records
Receipt import: lines from a supplier receipt matched to ingredients with quantities and prices.

How it works

Four steps you already take, written down properly

  1. Bring in your recipes

Type them in or import PDFs. Each recipe keeps every version you make.

  2. Check the math

See lye, water and soap qualities, with the source behind every SAP value.

  3. Make the batch

Follow the workbench on your phone. The recipe you used is saved with the batch.

  4. Cure, review and label

Get reminders, note how the bars turned out, and print labels when they're ready.

About the chemistry

We show where every number comes from

Our SAP values come from published references: the Food Chemicals Codex, pharmacopoeias and peer-reviewed papers. Each value links back to its source. We never copied numbers from other soap calculators.

If an oil has no sourced value, Soap Ledger says so and blocks the calculation instead of guessing.

We compare; we don't certify. Soap Ledger checks your recipe against published ranges and flags anything unusual. It can't tell you a soap is safe, skin-friendly or legal to sell. That judgement, and any testing, stays with you.

Your recipes are private to your workspace. You can export everything, any time, on every plan.
